National Week of Protected Areas in Togo
The objective of this national week of protected areas, whose theme is: “local communities at the heart of the sustainable management of Protected Areas in Togo”, aims to further encourage the adherence of stakeholders to the sustainable management of Protected Areas in order to increase their contribution to the socio-economic development of the country. Created between 1938 and 1958, the 83 Protected Areas covered an area of 793,300 ha, or about 14% of the national territory. Currently several are experiencing invasions.
National Protected Areas Week aims to raise awareness among the general public while sharing the successes and efforts to preserve this exceptional natural heritage essential to life.
Thus, throughout the Week, which runs from 26 to 28 November 2024, the stakeholders debated the issue and showed the commitment and strategies of the Togolese government to maintain its diversity.
