Diversity and uses of fruit species in coffee agroforestry systems in Plateau-Akposso in Togo
This study is a contribution to the knowledge of fruit species in
coffee agroforestry systems in Plateau-Akposso located in the forest zone of Togo. It is an area of semi-deciduous forests where undercover crops, including coffee trees,
are grown. 50 m x 50 m plots were
made in these plantations and the fruit species identified. Nineteen (19) species have been inventoried
and divided into 18 genera and 16 families. Persea americana, Citrus spp are the most frequent species
in coffee agroforestry systems. The most represented families are Lauraceae,
Rutaceae and Arecaceae. Surveys made it possible to identify spontaneous and
non-spontaneous fruit species with economic value.
