Together4Ocean: All at the beach in Lomé this November 26
The sixth edition of Together4Ocean, an activity to clean up the Togolese coast, initiated by the Association of Young People Committed to Climate Change (AJECC) will be effective this Saturday, November 26, 2022 at 6:30am at 6:30am at Lomé beach in front of the former presidency.
Launched on June 8, 2022, the AJECC initiative in collaboration with several civil society organizations such as IAAS-UL, Africa Eco 2100 and the Green World Association aims to invest in the race for a clean beach.
Since Act 1, this activity has seen the participation of over 200 young people. They meet every last Saturday of the month at a specific location on the beach to raise awareness among residents, collect waste, sweep the beach and play zumba sports there with follow-up for waste recovery.
As for the consequences, they are multiple, whether on aquatic life or on fishing activities. The Atlantic Ocean bordering the Togolese coast plays an important role in the national economy.
Beyond being a major ecological challenge, the protection of marine ecosystems and the cleanliness of the Togolese coast have real impacts on the economy and socio-cultural life.
