The World Conservation Congress, a major international meeting on biodiversity that was supposed to welcome tens of thousands of people in Marseille in January, has been postponed due to the health situation. This event was supposed to pave the way for COP15 Biodiversity, scheduled for May. Uncertainties therefore weigh on maintaining the Congress ahead of the biodiversity COP, which is itself under threat (see below), although the Secretary of State for Biodiversity, Bérangère Abba, specified that this was “a major step”. If both events were to be postponed, there would be congestion at the end of the year. The One Planet Summit, dedicated to biodiversity and organized by France, was held on January 11, 2021.
