National workshop to validate study reports for the establishment of the national information system for climate transparency.
On 15 and 16 March 2022, around thirty actors from the environmental sector are taking part in the national workshop to review and validate study reports in order to set up a national information system for climate transparency in Lomé at the Hotel la Concorde on 15 and 16 March 2022.
These studies were commissioned as part of the implementation of the Climate Transparency Capacity Building Initiative Project (IRCT/CBIT) with financial support from the Global Environment Facility (GEF) and UN Environment.
The project aims to remove barriers and establish solid foundations for the establishment of a transparent framework for actions on climate change in Togo. This framework is needed to support the implementation of Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs). It will be used for measuring, assessing and reporting greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions, for mitigation, adaptation and development actions as well as for support actions of various kinds, particularly in the areas of finance, capacity building and technology transfer?
Three studies were conducted by consultants:
- the mapping of the activities and actors of the measurement, notification and verification system (MNV);
- the knowledge management strategy;
- the architecture of the national climate change information management system.
The launching ceremony of the workshop was chaired on behalf of the Minister of Environment and Forest Resources, by Mr. Kodjo Kudadze, Chief of Staff.
