Towards a biodiversity management committee for the islands of Aného (Togo)
This Wednesday, January 05, 2022, a very important workshop took place in the implementation of the PAPBIO project. This is a consultation meeting with a view to the possible creation of committees of actors managing the PAPBIO project. Recall that the project focuses on the preservation and enhancement of the Aného Islands through the creation of mangrove forests.
Opening the session, the Mayor of the Commune of Les Lacs1, Me Alexis AQUEREBURU, thanked the audience for their presence, then recalled the merits of the project, which is very beneficial for the entire population of Aného, and finally invited the actors present to a strong tolerance and collaboration for the effective success of the Project, without failing to remind them that the success of the development of the Aného Islands will be a source of motivation for financing other community projects..
John GAGLO from the NGO “Le Togo de Demain”, before entering into the debate, recalled the steps already taken in the process leading to the actual execution of the project. And, succinctly, he informed the audience on the development of the management agreement and on the establishment of management committees, committees that will bring together actors from neighborhoods near the islands. The session ended with another appointment being made for the next step in the process.
As a reminder, the PapBio project, which is being implemented in the municipal territory of Les Lacs1, is led by the Aquereburu & Partners Foundation and financed by the International Union for the Conservation of Nature (IUCN) from the 11th European Development Fund of the European Union (EU).
