Togo has taken the initiative to join the TerrAfrica partnership platform to strengthen its capacities and establish a favorable context for the sustainable management of the environment and natural resources and remove bottlenecks to the integration and more effective financing of GERN: A central element of the programmatic approach to investments, Togo's National Investment Programme for Environment and Natural Resources (PNIERN) will strengthen the design, targeting, sequencing and monitoring investments, and to improve the current management of the environment and natural resources (GERN) to create a more incisive impact and a better cost-effectiveness of GERN in Togo. This program approach will thus improve performance in three areas: (i) more effective use of public spending, international funds and existing knowledge; (ii) mobilization of additional funds and consideration of GERN in poverty reduction strategies, national budgets, national budgets, sectoral strategies and international assistance and (iii) support for policies, institutions, projects and programs in favor of GERN.
